Trainer Randy Bendis reports that Georgia Pacific is prepping
for a spring return to the races. "He's doing great," Bendis said last night.
"He's feeling so good that we've decided to try him
in mid-April in the Classic Series. He's been outside with all the snow
and ice. We decided to bring him back in now so as not to take a chance
on getting hurt. He's jogging.
“He's a pretty special horse. It's not
just talent that he has. He doesn't get his feelings hurt if he gets
beat or gets a bad trip, he comes right back out there to following
week."
Last year as a three-year-old the gelded son of Western Hanover had standings of 10-7-3 from 26 starts for $704,000 earned. He paced six sub 1:50 miles including his life best 1:49.1. He concluded his 2004 season with a victory in the Matron in early December at Dover Downs.
A $32,000 yearling purchase, Georgia Pacific is co-owned by Bendis, Susan Castelli and John F. Campbell of Pennsylvania and William Varney of Maine.
