Qualifiers this morning at Harrah's saw a number of notable performers lining up including We Will See, Handsoffmycupcake, Googoo Gaagaa, Looking Hanover and Hillbilly Hanover.
We Will See
The first race of the morning was captured by $2.5 million winner We Will See who rolled to a two length 1:54.4 effort for Ron Pierce over JR Camelot.
Sam De Pinto trains the six-year-old Western Hanover son for his wife Shannon who co-owns with Earl Smith and J&T Silva Stables. It was the first 2013 line for We Will See who added over $430,000 to his bankroll last season.
The second qualifier saw Looking Hanover sent to the top by trainer Edwin Gannon and never look back to win by more than seven lengths in 1:56.2. World champion Googoo Gaagaa was making his first 2013 appearance in this event and sat fifth the entire mile for Corey Callahan and was fifth at the wire, 11 lengths behind the winner.
An eight-year-old gelding by Muscles Yankee, Looking Hanover is owned by Dawn Gannon and Yannick Gingras. The consistent performer is inching towards the million dollar mark with $977,911 on his card to date.
Also winning this morning was Handsoffmycupcake who was home first for Dan Dube in 1:56.2. The daughter of Christian Cullen owned by JFE Enterprise of New York was 4-4-1 in 11 starts last year at two for $249,000 in earnings. This was her first 2013 appearance.
Trainer Ron Burke had a trio of winners including Hillbilly Hanover who won for Matt Kakaley in 1:54. The four-year-old Dragon Again son has $459,000 on his card. Burke‚Äôs other winners were the four-year-old Donato Hanover mare Bluff in 1:58.3 and the four-year-old Four Starzzz Shark gelding R Caan in 1:54.3.
