Hambletonian Hopes For Prestidigitator
Jul 9

Prestidigitator's Ontario Sires Stake Gold final victory at Georgian Downs on Saturday was worth more than the prize money to trainer Dustin Jones.

"It was the way he raced that matters. He is far more manageable and did it exactly the way Sylvain (Filion) wanted him to do it," said the Campbellville, Ontario horseman who cannot help but look forward to the Hambletonian.

"The game plan now is the Canadian Breeders Championship eliminations on Friday if they are needed and then the final before we head for the Meadowlands."

The three-year-old Kadabra colt earned a 1:54 lifetime best but that meant little to Jones.

"I was very happy about the way he got around the five-eighths mile track. I'm always nervous when he races but Sylvain had him relaxed and we could not have asked for a better result."

With $88,000 earned this year and $320,000 last season, Prestidigitator has banked over $400,000 for owner Ecurie Synergie of Montreal.
