Fox Valley Absolut Goes Right Down The Road
Jan 8

Fox Valley Absolut led at every call on her way to a 1:56.3 victory in the $10,900 fillies and mares open handicap pace on Saturday night at Balmoral Park.

With Marcus Miller handling the driving duties, Fox Valley Absolut shot through from the pole position to the lead the field of six through stations of :28.3, :58.4, and 1:28.3.

Off that middle half in a minute flat, the sprint was on for home, and although 1-9 favourite Native Hotspur (Mike Oosting) closed some ground after sitting sixth at three-quarters, she couldn't catch Fox Valley Absolut, who hit the wire half a length to the good. Native Hotspur was the runner-up and Ellamakailey (Todd Warren) came in third.

Mike Schulfer trains Fox Valley Absolut, a five-year-old Sportsmaster mare, for owners James Strzalka, Norma Schulfer, James Skvarla, and Nancy Magnus. Fox Valley Absolut picked up her first win of 2011 in her second try, and she has 15 career victories. She has now banked $5,540 on the campaign and $174,766 lifetime.
