Howser Hanover won the spotlight trot and Bambis Beach Girl took the featured pace on the Saturday, April 10 program of racing action at Dover Downs.
Vic Kirby teamed with Howser Hanover for a lifetime record 1:57 victory in the $16,000 four- and five-year-old feature trot. Tina Clark and Cantwell Bridge Stable own the four-year-old SJs Caviar-Hornby Jean gelding now two-for-two in 2009 races. Stargazer Lily (Jon Roberts) and Fairlee Creek (Wayne Long), the only females in the field of eight finished second and third respectively.
One race later Daryl Bier drove Bambis Beach Girl to a 1:55.4 score, equaling her lifetime best, to win a Delaware $15,000 three-, four-, and five-year-old filly and mare pace. Morte Bedford, and IV, lease and own the Beach Romeo-Cripplecreek Bambi five-year-old who notched her second front-pacing victory of the year. Southwind Perilia (Brad Hanners) was second while Indeman (Frank Milby) followed.
Cool Cal turned in a 1:52.2 triumph to win a $14,500 male pace with Jon Roberts driving for Three Pont Acres. The Cole Muffler-Annacrombie gelding won for the second time this year. Rustys For Real (Hanners) was second. Wynnfield Flash (Vince Copeland) got up for second.
