Kansas Wildcat Shows His Claws
Mar 20

Perhaps inspired by Kansas State University advancing to the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, Kansas Wildcat scored a 1:53.1 victory in the $10,000 free-for-all pace on Saturday night at Balmoral Park.

Driver Sam Widger sent Kansas Wildcat to the lead from the outside post position five, and he would show the way through fractions of :28.2, :57.4, and 1:26.1 over the sloppy Balmoral Park surface.

In the stretch Kansas Wildcat continued to hold sway, and he would go on to win the event by three-quarters of a length. Annieswesterncard (Travis Seekman) was the runner-up after a first-over attempt and race favourite Heath (Mike Oosting) came in third after a two-hole trip.

Thomas Simmons trains Kansas Wildcat, a six-year-old son of Blissfull Hall, for owner Clinard Racing LLC. Kansas Wildcat visited the winner's circle for the fourth time from six trips behind the gate this year, and he picked up his 28th career victory. He has now stashed away $16,370 in 2010 and $210,495 in his lifetime.
