Tarver Hanover survived being parked out for the first three-quarters of the mile to win the $6,000 open handicap pace, which was the featured event on Monday night at Northfield Park.
With Dan Charlino at the lines, Tarver Hanover was parked three-wide at the :27.4 opening quarter which was set by Chang Dynasty (Ken Koch). Chang Dynasty then let Bad Man Hall (Renaldo Morales, III.) clear to the lead, and he was on point at the :55.4 half with Tarver Hanover still hung out in second.
Tarver Hanover took over the lead from Bad Man Hall at the 1:25 three-quarters, and then he drove off to win by two and a quarter lengths in 1:54 flat. Camcoder (Greg Grismore) was the runner-up after following the winner's cover and Wow Power (Wyatt Irvine) and Delivered Rules (Elliott Deaton) finished in a dead-heat for third.
Sam Schillaci trains Tarver Hanover, a nine-year-old son of Ball And Chain, for owner The Wiz Kids Stable LLC. This was the veteran's fourth win from 20 starts this year and his 43rd career victory. He has now put away $46,609 in 2010 and $714,479 lifetime.
