The change from 2009 to 2010 was of no concern to Jeremys Successor as he used a 1:53.4 mile to win his second straight edition of the $11,000 open handicap pace on Saturday night at Balmoral Park.
With driver Tyler Buter in the bike, Jeremys Successor got away in sixth from the outside post seven, and watched from that spot as Special Joe (Josh Sutton) carved out opening-half fractions of :28.3 and :57.4.
Past the half, Buter swung Jeremys Successor to the outside to track the first-over move of Annieswesterncard (Travis Seekman). After quickly pacing up to the leader, Annieswesterncard was only a head behind Special Joe at the 1:26.2 three-quarter mile marker.
In the stretch, Annieswesterncard kicked past Special Joe and set sail for home with over a length lead. However, that wouldn't last once Buter tipped out with Jeremys Successor, as he paced right around Annieswesterncard and held sway to score by three-quarters of a length. Beau Rivage N (Sam Widger) was next, followed by Western Trademark (Marcus Miller).
Dean Eckley trains Jeremys Successor, a six-year old Mach Three gelding, for owner Andrea Hill. Jeremys Successor was victorious for 14th time in his life, and he has now put away $324,105 in his racing career.
