Fresh off a stakes win in Michigan last time out, Park Avenue shipped back to Balmoral Park on Sunday night and won the $11,000 fillies and mares open pace.
With Tyler Buter driving, Park Avenue got away in fifth and watched as Jds Lady Lynn (Rick Dane, Jr.) and Joinusforsomefun (Sam Widger) traded the top through opening-half fractions of :27.4 and :56.
Park Avenue began a first-over march after that half-mile point, and she would get to within three lengths of Joinusforsomefun at three-quarters, which was reached in 1:25.1.
Through the stretch, Park Avenue continued to chip away at Joinusforsomefun's lead, taking it away inside the final eighth of the mile. From there, Park Avenue would hold off her entrymate Rip Rockin Lady (Mike Oosting), who had the second-over ride, to win by half a length in 1:54.2. Joinusforsomefun had to settle for third.
Amber Buter trains Park Avenue, a Keystone Raider mare, for owners Lynette Buter, Tyler Buter, and Eugene Oldford. Park Avenue, who got her eighth win in 28 attempts this year and her 22nd career tally, has now put away $116,989 in 2009 and $204,964 in her life.
