Outlaw Fireball Sparkles In ABSS Alberta Diamond Final
Jul 15

Outlaw Fireball picked up her third stakes victory of the season when she won the $58,700 ABSS Alberta Diamond final for 3-year-old pacing fillies on Saturday afternoon at Century Downs Racetrack and Casino in 1:55.3.

Cardinal Rule (Brandon Campbell) set the pace in the race, chopping out fractions of :28.2, :58.1, and 1:26.1, but Outlaw Fireball (J.F. Gagne) moved first-over out of third before the half and was just a length behind the pace-setter at three-quarters.

In the stretch Outlaw Fireball wrestled command away from Cardinal Rule, then held off Wedding Dance (Jim Marino), who had followed from second-over, to score by half a length. Outlaw Imahotvixen (Jamie Gray) rallied from eighth at the half to pick up third money.

Gagne also co-owns the winner, a Blue Burner filly, with Peter Van Seggelen, Carl Warnaar, and Tapron Holdings Ltd. The Marjorie Dumont-trained miss is now four-for-six in the win column this year, and she has nine lifetime wins, including last year's Alberta Super Final. She has banked $96,650 in 2017 and $181,614 lifetime.
