Major Athens, a winner of $653,525 to date in his career, will make his first start for new trainer Jeff Gillis in tomorrow’s qualifiers at Woodbine. It will be the first start for the seven-year-old Andover Hall gelding since October.

Owned by Howard Taylor, Major Athens was trained throughout last season by Thomas Milici while Richard Gillock handled his training prior to that. Gillis has tapped Jody Jamieson to drive Major Athens from post six in the third qualifier of the day.
Starting right alongside in post five is another trotter in a new barn as Modest Prince will make his first start for Blair Burgess whose son Taylor will drive. A winner of $430,000 to date in his career, the seven-year-old son of RC Royalty is owned by Richard Gutnick.
Gillis has a trotter in the second race as well in Forte, a three-year-old Angus Hall gelding he co-owns with Mac Nichol and Gerald Stay. They have tapped Per Henriksen to try and sort out the horse’s tendancy to break stride in his races.
